Traaaaaaaack!

I'll make this short and sweet because I have a jammed packed day at work ahead of me.

I woke up this morning not so excited about track. Rare, I know! But, unfortunately the norm as of late. The one thing that had me semi pumped up was that I got to try out my new shoes (New Kicks).

I got to the track early and warmed up a mile and then saw that we had the following workout:

2x2000, 800, Opt. 1600

Though, at this point, we all know that the 1600 isn't optional for marathoners!

Expected Times: 8:45, 8:45, 3:20, 7:00-7:10

Rest: 4 minutes after 2000's, 2 minutes after 800

My times: 8:40, 8:45, 3:18, 7:28

So, I didn't quite hit the last mile ... but the purpose of the optional mile is to get used to running on tired legs. If I can finish my marathon at that pace, I'd be ecstatic. My real goal was sub 7:30 on that!

The 2000's wore me out!!

I LOVE getting my workout done first thing in the morning. It makes for a very happy Jaime the rest of the day! :)

  2. I agree that morning workouts are so great, knowing how much you have done before most people even wake up.

Great job at the track, 2000s scare me, I have never even tried them.

  3. 2000s do sound scary! I am doing them next week! Great job hitting those times though! Love the new kicks...So do you wear the racers during practice? I know some people do. I haven't yet but its probably a good idea. FYI you have in your post that the workout is 2 x 1200. I was like why is she taking so long to do 1200s?! Then I realized haha

  4. 2000m is so long! I can handle 1000m but not 2000m. Great job on the track workout! Those miles must be so tough after all the other stuff!

  5. Good stuff! I did tracks last Monday too (1,600 - 1,400 - 1,200 - 1,000 - 800) and of course is was hard but as you say, long tracks are not optional for marathoners!
I am a new follower in your blog (and I have seen you before at The Loop)... I am going to run Boston next year... I'm glad we can share our experiences.
    Good luck!
