About Me

20-something female living in sunny hot and humid Flordia!  I love spending all of my time running, thinking about running, talking about running or planning my next run.  My running friends understand me but everyone else just thinks I'm a little insane.

I started running in 7th grade when I joined the track team.  Through middle school and high school, I loved track and hated cross country.  I thought I was a sprinter.  When I went to college, I quickly realized that you don't just go to the track and sprint for fun, so I gradually began running for 15-30 minutes a couple of times a week - to stay in shape!  This continued through college and post college.  I'd occasionally sign up for a 5K, but for the most part, the bug hadn't caught me yet!

In September '07, upon moving to Louisville, KY, I signed up with Team in Training to run my first marathon.  I had no idea what I was getting myself into; I thought I was just marking off a bucket list item.  I completed my first marathon (the goal was simply to finish) in 4:31:47 and was hooked.  I signed on as a mentor the second season and completed my second marathon in 4:31:17.  By this point, it hit me.  On top of that, my competitive edge started driving me a little more and I decided to see what I could do if I actually applied myself!  I started adding in tempos, longer runs, more mileage and really wanted to see what I was made of!  I enjoyed training hard and going fast and it all paid off when I crossed the finish line of my third marathon (NYC) in a time of 3:56:50.  To this day, this is still my favorite racing experience.  I had never wanted something so bad and actually gone for it.  Since then, I've trained even harder incorporating even more mileage, tempo runs, speed workout and longer goal paced runs and am still targeting that sub 3:40 time!  I made an attempt at in in June 2010, but fell apart around mile 19 and finished in 3:51.

In Nov. 2010, I had my break through in the half marathon and a ran a 1:37:35! I completely fell in love with the half marathon and am looking forward to racing more in this distance in 2011!!

I started this blog as a way to meet other runners like myself and as a way to hold myself accountable!  Thank you for taking the time to read any/all of my posts!  If you ever have any questions, feel free to email me at: jaileewin@gmail.com

  1. Hi Jaime - I've been following your blog for awhile. I got my start with TnT too and went back as a mentor. I completely understand your obsession with running! I like to push myself with each marathon to see what I can do. Happy running :)
